01 / ABOUT THE PLACE
About this place
Biting into seasoned, aromatic chicken alongside a chilled drink makes for a satisfying way to close out the day. Set on the second floor of a building on the way from Ikebukuro Station's East Exit toward Sunshine Street, Tokonatsuya (とこなつ家) is a dining bar pairing a breezy, tropical atmosphere with a substantial food menu. The kitchen offers plenty of hearty fare to satisfy an appetite, set alongside a fully stocked bar shelf.
Signature Jerk Chicken and Island-Inspired Curries
The centrepiece of the menu is the signature Tokonatsuya Jerk Chicken. Well-spiced and roasted juicy, it can be ordered on its own or as a more substantial jerk chicken rice bowl. Curries shaped by the owner's global travels are another draw, including a creamy snow crab red curry and a chicken paitan green curry, both available in half portions that work neatly as drinking snacks.
From Tropical Cocktails to Diverse Whiskies
Alongside spicy plates, tropical drinks such as a crisp house mojito, fruity homemade sangria, and tropical lassi cocktails feel right at home. The bottles lining the back bar stretch from standard beers and highballs to Islay and Japanese whiskies, gins, and herbal liqueurs, offering something for whatever mood strikes.
A Relaxed Perch for Any Pace
With both counter and table seating available, it accommodates solo stops after work just as easily as an unhurried round of drinks among friends. Open from 18:00 until late into the night, the venue serves equally well for a full dinner at the start of an evening or quiet conversation in the small hours.
